It's very difficult to assemble an actual band in my area and even if I did- finding the time to do regular rehearsals is another problem. The one man show is the only viable solution (for now).
On the plus side, doing it on my own allows me to choose my set list, rehearse at any volume, any time with pre-recorded bass and drum tracks. Traveling and doing shows is obviously easier and little reimbursement is required.
The desire and determination to play exactly the music I want can be problematic in getting booked. Regional clubs and crowds aren't really interested in instrumental music that focuses on more technical and advanced guitar skills in a hard rock/heavy metal showcase. Still, it's what I've chosen.
