The equipment I use when playing live is very basic, trusty old workhorse gear and not difficult to replace (I like cheap stuff)! It also differs from what I use to record with, as things lend themselves specifically to certain tasks.
The gig guitars are 2 piecemeal Stratocasters put together from various Fender and Squier strat parts. These are outfitted with very hot alnico pickups that don't screech or feedback too much at loud volumes. They stay in tune very well as the guy who puts them together makes upgrades for maximum reliability.
In recent years, I've really started preferring single coils as long as they're hot! I'll elaborate on this in the next blog.
